"We, the women of one country,
Will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs."
--Julia Ward Howe, 1870 Mother's Peace Day Proclamation
Though it took until 1914 for the US to legislate Mother's Day it was indeed intended to be in memory of the sons lost in war by these Mothers.
Mother’s Day is:
A time for the women and children
to come together
to speak for those things
that make for peace.
--Julia Ward Howe
Honor your mother with the gift of peace. And give her your love. And maybe flowers and chocolates.
And I give special appreciation for my own Mother who is the matriarch of 5 generations and well loved and appreciated by us all.
I pray for the Mothers in the White House, too.

I would honour my mom with the gift of peace like flowers.
